Hot reading for steamy summer nights...this is a definite 'adults only' book. I read some reviews that said that this was written in response to FSOG. If so, the author was miles ahead of that book. This had so much more in plotting and suspense. The end has a bit of a cliffhanger, but really this was something I suspected almost from the beginning. My main issue with the book is that while we know quite a bit about Karina by the end of the book, James is still very much an enigma. I'm sure it's a deliberate attempt to keep the reader buying more books. I think that the author owes the reader a certain level of closure - and I'm not sure that this was achieved. Nevertheless I did enjoy this and will be looking for more.

The story? Okay...Karina is a grad student in art and was subbing at a bar when she encounters a mystery man. Their encounter is hot from the beginning and the action builds through a series of seductions. He doesn't even take his clothes off for several of their dates (which leads to some humorous speculation by Karina) but the action is definitely hot and there are elements of dominance and bondage once they have established a level of trust. There are a lot of steamy elements but it's the trust-building between Karina and James that takes center stage by the end of the novel. The central question that is left unanswered throughout the book is what is James hiding. He is extremely secretive and Karina is able to break down his defenses, sometimes without realizing what she's doing.
