Should an old acquaintance call and say he has been threatened with murder you say he is a fool, a neurotic, a liar or perhaps just a daydreamer. But the man who called on Jonathan Blake might have been telling the truth, because of past record of making enemies. Blake felt he ought to find out. But what he found was more than he bargained for.

A strange, vague story, with a weak ending. LOTS of smoking which dates it. When I read a story in which everyone appears to smoke heavily, I can only conclude the author is a heavy smoker too and this is reflecting their smoke filled view of the world, where to them it is normal that people smoke. Slightly awkward writing style for me too.
