I got this fair-condition softcover from Better World Books. It has an intriguing premise: during the deadly Spanish Flu epidemic of1918, some communities opted to isolate themselves, allowing nobody in or out - a quarantine method that might have been effective in preventing disease if executed well (and in time), but which had lots of potential problems. This novel is set in a small mill town in the Pacific Northwest, remote enough for a quarantine to seem effective - except that things don't go as expected, especially when an apparently-ill soldier straggles to the town border and begs for sanctuary...
