Sending this to FinalsEnd. Enjoy!
I received this book from MMMaartje, because it is on the 1001 books list. Thank you!
I did not finish reading this book. Somehow I was just not into it and didn't want to read anymore. Might be the book or just a bad timing for me to start this one.
"Omar Khayyam Shakil had three mothers who shared everything. They shared the symptoms of pregnancy, they shared the son that they all claim to have borne on the same night. Raised at their six breasts, Omar's mothers teach him to live a life without shame. And it is training that proves very useful when he leaves his mothers' fortress and makes the fateful mistake of falling in love. For he finds himself an unwitting player in an ongoing duel between the families of two men – one a celebrated wager of war, the other a debauched lover of pleasure – living in a world caught between honour and humiliation, where a moment of shame could prove fatal."

On its way to Delphi_Reader (winner of this May offer from "one book a month").
"Shame" is now in my hands. Thank you MMMaartje for registering and BookishPanda for sending it over.
This is one of the earlier Salman Rushdie's books, I think I've read it many many years ago in Greek, my native language, but I'm not sure. Rushdie isn't an easy author and he is not everyone's cup of tea, but usually I enjoy his books...
Let's see what I'll make out of this : )

Yes, I've read this ages ago and I enjoyed reading it again, this time in English. How can one comment on Salman Rushdie's writting? Meta-fiction? Magic-realism? A long-winded, flourishing prose? Imaginative story-telling? Alternative, but still not-alternative history? All these could about be correct and still not exactly accurate to describe this unique author.
On my opinion "Shame" wasn't his best book but I still found my self immersed in the book. A slow and not always easy novel, but still an enjoyable one on its own way.
Thanks once again for sharing!

Shame on me that didn't make any JE after the book arrived, although I sent a PM to Delphi_Reader when the parcel arrived.
I don't know what happened. It's not my usual behavior. I'm really sorry.
