2009 Melville House hardcover of the 1947 war story, translated by Michael Hoffman.
I can let this go after I read:
1920 Young Goedeschal [n/a]
1923 Anton und Gerda [n/a]
1931 Peasants, Bosses and Bombs [n/a]
1932 Little Man, What Now? [read 2017]
1934 Who Once Eats Out of the Tin Bowl (The World Outside) [read 2018]
1934 Land in His Bosom [n/a]
1935 Once We Had a Child [n/a]
1936 An Old Heart Goes A-Journeying By [n/a]
1937 Sparrow Farm [n/a]
1938 Wolf Among Wolves [n/a]
1940 Iron Gustav [n/a]
Edit June 4, 2018: This was a very intriguing and moving tale of feckless attempts at citizen opposition in WW II Germany. The paranoia and the complicity runs deep. But there is a large amount of human nature humor here as well, that makes it tolerably pathetic. I currently have this ranked at #2000 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
