Thank you for the Postcard with the view of the National Liberal Club 1887 - 1900.
I love your idea to send out all these postcards. I'm considering whether I can do something like that with the beautiful old pictures of my ancestors.

Thank you for the postcard from the English Heritage series I will keep it for a while to enjoy and then pass it on.
I've got one, too :-)
It's called "Ploughing with a Fordson Major", John Gay. Nice view, by the way.
Oh my, this postcard has brought a funny, confusing story with it. My mistake :-)
Thanks Poodlesister!

Beautiful postcard. Thank you poodlesister! I don't know whether to keep it or send it to a friend. Mine is Cobbold & Co dray and horses, 1950.
An extra little surprise in my Not So Secret Father Christmas package, for which much thanks, Poodlesister. This photo of "a Boxer dog looking down from an upper floor window in Islington" is very appropriate for me because I love Boxers - used to own a white one.
Thank you for your HGG-envelope with stickers, labels and all sorts of cards in it - this dog was the only one with a BCID-number. It says Springer Spaniel on the back side - good, because I would not have thought it to be a springer, more like a German pointer. Well, you can only see half the head...
Pic: Here are some horses coming from Hyde Park to Green Park, on their way to Buckingham Palace.

Dear Poodlesister!
Thank you very much for your nice letter, the beautiful labels - Mostly I like the one with the Little Free Library E17, the wonderful stamp on the letter with Woodchurch Windmill in Kent and the postcard with a photo of "Fruit and vegetable market at Covent Garden in 1870, English Heritage Archive". It was a really nice idea. I wish you all the best for the New Year!

Thank you for the lovely postcard of the King George V Dock and the bookcrossing labels!
I received a card of bicycles at Queen's College in Oxford in1903 in my birthday gift from Poodlesister. Cool idea and especially appropriate since the "b" after "bethie" stands for biker! I'll pass it on after I've admired it for a while.
Thank you! I received the postcard with a gardener sweeping the pathway at St.Edmunds Abbey Gardens.
Journal Entry 35 by millycat at Northampton, Northamptonshire United Kingdom on Thursday, March 15, 2018
This arrived today in a lovely wishlist tag parcel, thankyou! Its a John Gay picture of a small boy looking down on boats in Portscatho Harbour
Mmmm… two post-cards with BCID’s on them!
* Romano's Restaurant on The Strand, 1885.
* Streatham Hill Pumping Station, 1895.
I picked these up during a Festive meeting with BookCrosser Ythan in Aberdeen, thanks Ythan! I have just realised that I did not make any journal entries at the time not having access to the internet at the time. Subsequently I forgot them and the issue of making ‘caught’ journal entries was left unattended. Apologies all!
The postcard of Streatham Hill Pumping Station has been passed onto another bookcrosser while I have for the moment held onto the postcard with Romano's Restaurant on The Strand, 1885. There’s a reason I held onto this one more of which anon…

Journal Entry 39 by sakirmo at Turku, Varsinais-Suomi / Egentliga Finland Finland on Wednesday, April 4, 2018
Aha, so this is it! I was wondering what the BCIDs behind postcards mean... My card arrived as part of 'You've got mail' sweepstakes and has a picture of Battersea Power station illuminated. Nice!
And I also got another one from CathrineB, with a view from St John's church.

Sedna5213 sent me this one. It shows delivery drivers at Smithfield Markets in 1915. A great postcard!
I got a view from the Old Mill at Harnham towards Salisbury Cathedral for my birthday. Beautiful!
Thank you so much for the postcard. It is a view of barges at the Dunbar Wharf. Very interesting.
I received this one of St. John's Church from Sakirmo. The postcard accompanied Chronicle of a Death Foretold. While the story is not set in England, I think the mood of the postcard fits the book quite well.
Thank you soo much, Poodlesister, "Through the window of Claire's Cake Shop" has arrived in time for my birthday. I really like this one, and I will most probably keep it. :)
I've received 'A thatcher and tools, Thank you!
'Love this postcard of the "rag and bone" wagon. In Toronto, as recently as the late 1950's, there were men who would come around (mostly in working class areas) with a wagon, and they were known as Sheeny Men. To me, this sounds Irish, but I've also read it was a derogatory term for a Jewish ragman. The Sheeny Man would come around and buy old newspapers, old clothes, scrap metal, appliances, etc.

I got one card (Springer spaniel looking out) as a part of my birthday gift few days ago and to be honest, I really don't have any kind of idea what I should to do with this. Do I have to keep it by myself or give away or what? (The card was empty except the BCID.) I don't understand the point, sorry.
Thanks for this interesting post-card! I'd rather had connected tulip-picking with the Netherlands than with the U.K. Shows how we should always keep an open mind... ;-)
Since the picture is from 1951 - I wonder, whether those tulip-fields still exist ...

After receiving the tulip-postcard I went through postcards I got before, as I seemed to remember one with a BCID. I thought it had to do with a book I received (not checking the exact numbers), so
thanks to poodlesister for a very atmospheric view of Hampstead High Street by night, in the early sixties!

Wow, a postcard of The Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich Park.
When I was a little kiwi and went out to explore the world, the first place I landed in was a friend's apartment in Greenwich. As a kiwi with very little money I spent a lot of time in this park, having picnics and enjoying concerts and walks. I've also toured the college.
Thank you reminding me of those fun times.

Well, this postcard is off to Prince George, BC as a little extra in a copy of Nick Hornby's "High Fidelity". I signed up for the Music Sweepstakes (posted several weeks ago in the Forums) where one has to send a book with a musical theme, or title. This is a terrific book, (the movie was very good too, altho' I kind of wanted to see it set in England with UK actors, vs. the USA). High Fidelity is set in London, UK and the postcard has a London scene, so it's a good "stowaway".
I've never seen a BCID on a postcard before - so this was a new experience!
I received it from Bookgirrl as part of the Music Sweeps III contest.
Love the picture on the postcard - a horse pulling a wooden wheeled wagon, with rubber tires ON the wagon. Old cars in the background.

Received this one from Abi-Gibby for my 2019 HGG, this one has a gentleman driving a tractor through the doorway of a church. Lovely. (Just noticed it was the one Abi-Gibby posted just an entry above.)
Thank you for the postcard, "Paddling on the beach at Blackpool, 1946-1955. (I guess the photo was taken sometime during that period.) I will make a release note when I mail this postcard to someone.
