One of my favorite books last year. I was completely caught up in Cheryl's grief, and fully understood how she could succumb to doing heroin and being promiscuous. Not that I'd do those things, but I've fallen into grief that was so numbing that I felt unable to function. Which is why I loved her transformation as she hiked the PCT. I defy anyone to read this and not want to grab a pair of hiking boots and set off into the wilderness. I can't say I ever liked Cheryl in the book, but I could relate to her. And wish I could find a pilgrimage/journey of my own like this. I'm thinking on it...
