Miles away, Sadie Sparrow, a young detective in the London police force, is staying at her grandfather's house in Cornwall. While out walking one day, she stumbles upon the old estate - now crumbling and covered with vines, clearly abandoned long ago. Her curiosity is sparked, setting off a series of events that will bring her and Alice together and reveal shocking truths about a past long gone...yet more present than ever.

Well I could just copy & paste my review from "The Secret Keeper" & say.....yet again....." I've read all Kate Morton's book's & this follows the same tried & tested format of the previous three. ( now four!) However, that is in no way a criticism. Based on the other books I was expecting a gripping tale that moves over the decades, a family mystery being discovered - & of course solved - & of how sometimes a very small action can be misinterpreted & consequently have huge repercussions....& that's just what I got! So no disappointments as it lived up to expectations & was a great read that honestly was hard to put down. " - yes, once again that's all true!

I found myself riveted by the two tales that ran alongside each other. The family, house & grounds were beautifully brought to life & I was led up the garden path on more than one occassion. The ending was of the sort that so often has me eye rolling thinking it mawkish but in this case it just seemed such a nice finale that I found myself smiling with satisfaction.
