The weather in Minneapolis has changed with the fall, Detective Nikki Liska is restless and bored with the new assignment to the cold case squad. Her old partner, Sam Kovac, misses her and is trying hard to adjust. He has a brutal double homicide to solve. As Liska has little hope of solving a twenty-five year old crime. But somehow the two crimes intersect and Kovac and Liska are on the hunt to find the answers before the killer strikes again. A very good story!

This was my first read in the Liska & Kovac series. Now I need to go back and read the rest of them. This story is a unbelievable circle of circumstances that should never of happened and the ruin of many lives, not to mention all the murders that came about because of what happened 25 years ago. Liska has transferred to cold cases to be able to spend more time with her sons. She misses working with Kovac and he misses working with her. Liska is trying to solve a 25 year old killing. Kovac is trying to solve a double homicide. Somehow, these murders are connected. A very good read.
