I am sure I have read something by this author many years ago. I found this book (cover different than shown) and a companion book written by his wife Jacquie, in a local Little Free Library.

Realistically, though, I can't see my getting to it any time soon so I will set it free to travel. Will bring it to the meetup tomorrow

From our meetup today! I adored Gerald Durrell's "My Family & Other Animals". 'Read it when I was 15, on a visit to Ottawa, where my sister was living. I found it so funny and sweet, and I'll give this one a try. Companion book, "Beasts in My Bed" too!

PS - I could not for the life of me find an ISBN in the companion book so I couldn't register it. That's why I put them together with an elastic band. Just fyi

Two books are released together, the earlier one by Jacquie Durrell and the second by her husband Gerald Durrell. Their love of animals and eventual establishment of their own zoo are almost modern day miracles. Both books are enjoyable but Gerald's is lightly better written. Many of our much loved wild animals are on their way to extinction and each and every one of us can help by supporting one or more of the world wide zoos devoted to preserving these precious animals. Once gone, there is no way to bring them back!
