An old annotated copy (aren't they all?) of this classic, to be read at last before reading the prequel Go Set a Watchman. OK that makes no sense, but I'm respecting the wishes of Harper Lee ;)
(08/10/17) *Spoiler*A slow burn, but I can see why this is a classic..and rich ground for discussions about politics, prejudice and gender, as well as a snapshot of a not-too-distant period of American history. I loved the way the Atticus Finch and the trial of Tom Robinson connects with the adventures of Jet, Dill and Jean Louise 'Scout' and the mysterious 'Boo' Radley. I'm really glad that I may the effort to read this and fill in an important part of my missing literary heritage :)
ps. not a prequel, Go Set a Watchman is set in the 1950's, looking forward to catching up with the grown-up Scout now...
