Very good ending (?) to the Shardlake series. The plot was complex but well-developed, and I liked the historical notes at the end.

Would write more but my son wants to play Lego with me right now...

Caught at the Edinburgh Book Festival Old Gang Meet up. Loved the rest of this series so great to catch this one. Thank you!

This was up to the usual good standard. Lots of twists and turns (was there anyone that wasn't playing both sides?) I've really enjoyed how this series has taken me through the reign of Henry VIII.

Picked up from the Filmhouse and destined for my obcz. I did read this last year, so here is my review:

Lamentation by CJ Sansom - very good

I do like the Shardlake books and this is number 6 in the series. Each time the author manages to tell a little history and evokes this sights, sounds (and sadly) smells of Tudor London as well as providing a nice little mystery.

This time, he is called to assist the Queen, Catherine Parr, when a copy of a book she has written (The Lamentations of the title) goes missing and a number of murders seem to be linked to its wearabouts. She can't be seen to be involved and so Shardlake investigates both its theft and the murders. We're led through the twists and turns of the mystery with the author's usual style.

Nice page turner and cues up the chance of further books in the series quite nicely.
