I found this good-condition softcover at a local thrift shop. I'd expected ghost stories and famous-pirate-or-shipwreck-type tales, and there are some of these, but there are lots of lesser tales of oddities - fishermen hauling up some bizarre creature, lead shot falling from no perceptible source, that kind of thing - as well as some humorous poems on local topics. There *was* an incident involving Springheel Jack, a character that had been notorious in London as well; how he got to Newfoundland isn't clear {wry grin}.

I left this in the Little Free Library; hope someone enjoys it!
