Found this copy at the Thrift store- I knew it was on a friends wishlist so I grabbed.

From the author of the beloved bestseller Garden Spells comes a beautiful, haunting story of old loves and new, and the power of the connections that bind us forever...

The first time Eby Pim saw Lost Lake, it was on a picture postcard. Just an old photo and a few words on a small square of heavy stock, but when she saw it, she knew she was seeing her future.

That was half a life ago. Now Lost Lake is about to slip into Eby's past. Her husband George is long passed. Most of her demanding extended family are gone. All that's left is a once-charming collection of lakeside cabins succumbing to the Southern Georgia heat and damp, and an assortment of faithful misfits drawn back to Lost Lake year after year by their own unspoken dreams and desires.

It's a lot, but not enough to keep Eby from relinquishing Lost Lake to a developer with cash in hand, and calling this her final summer at the lake. Until one last chance at family knocks on her door.

Lost Lake is where Kate Pheris spent her last best summer at the age of twelve, before she learned of loneliness, and heartbreak, and loss. Now she's all too familiar with those things, but she knows about hope too, thanks to her resilient daughter Devin, and her own willingness to start moving forward. Perhaps at Lost Lake her little girl can cling to her own childhood for just a little longer... and maybe Kate herself can rediscover something that slipped through her fingers so long ago.

One after another, people find their way to Lost Lake, looking for something that they weren't sure they needed in the first place: love, closure, a second chance, peace, a mystery solved, a heart mended. Can they find what they need before it's too late?

At once atmospheric and enchanting, Lost Lake shows Sarah Addison Allen at her finest, illuminating the secret longings and the everyday magic that wait to be discovered in the unlikeliest of places.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This is now traveling to bookworminusall, the next in line for the bookray.

I loved this story. I think you will as well. It is a story of grief, love, hope and second chances and even community. The author is able to portray a picture of her characters so that whoever picks up the book can relate to them, like them. Even the character you start out not liking, you eventually understand and then like them. I enjoyed every page of this book from start to finish. I would love to see a continuation of the story in another book!

This Bookray Book arrived two days ago on 9/25...the same day as another one I signed up for months apart, so it may take me a couple of weeks to get to the two of them read...what a GREAT IDEA to include a sticky note as a reminder that the book IS a Bookray Book, and another listing the participants, josierivers!!! : ) I will never understand how even though I strategically space out the things I do decide to participate in, they all decide to arrive at the same time, or within a few days of each other, and yet the number of participants even varies...GO FIGURE!!! ; D Looking forward to reading this...THANKS for including me!!! : D

This got here safely over the weekend. As I just finished my last commute book, this is going right into my bag to read on my morning train ride.

Journal Entry 11 by wingnimrodielwing at Evanston, Illinois USA on Wednesday, March 7, 2018
Like the other Sarah Addison Allen books that I have read, this was a quick read. I got sucked into the story on my commute and read a large chunk of it during my lunch hour.

This story really felt magical.

Thank you for sharing it with me.
