Wuthering Heights (Wordsworth Classics)
3 journalers for this copy...
"This is the wild, passionate story of intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr. Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and, wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man."
I read and re-read this novel many times, and then was fortunate enough to visit West Yorkshire, the moors... and even the remains of the house which is said to have inspired Emily Brontë when she took long walks with her sisters...
I have purchased this copy, via Awesome Books, for my partner in the Yorkshire Day Exchange, because this novel is the best reflection of what Yorkshire means to me...

I love your pick. It is a book I have read more than once too and enjoyed each time. So I know I will enjoy reading this again.

This is a classic for a reason. I enjoyed this re-read immensely. Even though I know what is going to happen, the story still draws me in. The characterisation is excellent. The characters stand out vividly in my mind and I love-hate them.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Going to the winner of the Classics Sweepstakes. Congratulations.
Caught this today, as I am apparently the winner of round 3 of the Classics Sweepstakes. Thank you! I listened to this on audio earlier this year and enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading it in print.
Also, this was the page's "bookish quote" that popped up when I submitted this journal entry:
"A classic is something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read."
Mark Twain
Ha! Thankfully, I liked the book a bit more than that.
