A Christmas present from my husband (2010!). Well, it's high time to read and then decide what to do: keep it or release.

I've seen some movies based upon Jane Austin's novels but actually I've never read her books. Mansfield Park was the first and - I'm afraid - the last one.
Maybe it's because I'm not a native speaker, maybe I just didn't like it, but in general reading was a struggle, not a pleasure.

My wife found it on her commute (or at work) in Brussels and brought it home in January 2017. Having had so much on my plate in the following months, I've only started reading it in late June!

A later work than Austen's favorites P&P or S&S, this one was written in a particularly gloomy and piety-horny phase of her life, and it shows. The professor in the intro of the Wordsworth Classics version relays this biographical information in a valiant attempt to defends Mansfield Park as one of the less popular of Austen's books, even among Austenites.
