Dr Claire Elliot moves with her 14yr old son, Noah to a small town on the edge of a lake, in the hope he gets on with his studies and make friends with a nice bunch of kids.
It is clear quite early on that the opposite is happening.
Along with unveiled hostility towards her, there is trouble in the high school with teenagers fighting and carrying out the most brutal acts.
Along with the local Police Officer, Lincoln, Claire embarks on a rather dangerous and I think a very brave investigation, to see what it is that is making these teenagers the monsters they have become.
She discovers parallels with events in the past 100 yrs, when there were unnatural levels of rain.
A very well plotted novel. It is one of Ms Gerritsen's earlier ones, and the writing is a little immature; nevertheless, I loved it and couldn't put it down.
