I got this book at Barnes and Noble, after enjoying Volume One. The unusual artwork and eerie, poignant storyline is very appealing.

This volume picks up after a very frightening scene in the previous book, one that threatens the little girl's very life - and yet she doesn't seem to have suffered, at least not right away. Shiva's guardian faces down the intruder, who says something about a pure soul - perhaps Shiva is more important to this world than we have realized so far...

We meet more of the Outsiders here, and learn some things about their world - and about Shiva's relations, who may not be lost to her after all. And her poor guardian drives himself distracted with worry over what to tell her, something she can understand and that will keep her safe but won't wound her.

We also see some of the Insiders, who have plans of their own for the pure soul - and by the end of this volume, Shiva's being taken Inside! I guess I'll have to wait for Vol. 3 to find out what's next.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this. Ended up reading this and the previous volume in a day. Will hold onto this and the previous volume so I can reread them when I can grab a copy of the next volumes.

I am looking forward to the coming volumes on Shiva and Teacher. :)

I pulled this from the book box to read.

This volume continues to build up the world the story has s set in. We meet more outsiders and find out a bit about their mother. Meanwhile, the religious leader of the Insiders seems to have plans for Shiva. Using her dear auntie to lure her inside Shiva is separated from her guardian, the outsider she calls teacher. The story in this continues to be intriguing and fairytale-esque. The art continues to pull me with its otherworldly creepy airs. I am glad that I have the next volume to dive into.
