The Sister

I've seen very positive reviews of this book this demonstrates again that what suits some readers does not work well for others. Normally I like a good psychological thriller but I found this one disappointing.
The book was overly descriptive, especially at the beginning and I almost stopped reading it because of this. It just did not flow. Chapter 3 bothered me for different reasons. In this chapter we are taken back in time to when the protagonist was 9 years old but the dialogue just did not match that of a 9 year old. Then there were other examples throughout the book where scenes just did not flow for one reason or another.
Without giving away a plot spoiler, a relationship develops between 2 key characters and in my view this development occurred too quickly and it was not plausible to me.
I left the book feeling as if the author has a major dislike for women sized 8 or below. However; on reflection I suspect this was more a case of developing the protagonist and for that I can give much credit to the author as the protagonist did stir up my emotions somewhat.
I think this will be a good book to read as part of a book group. A lot to discuss in relation to it.
