My husband has a serious love of Mounties. Last year we visited the RCMP Heritage Centre and Training Depot in Regina, and I think the love of all things RCMP has grown a lot since then. Anyway, we bought this book at a used bookstore we really like in our neighbouring city of Kitchener, Ontario early in the year with the intention of reading it together and then sharing it with someone else! We've been reading it off and on for a long time now and plan to finish it on a little road trip this weekend.

For 2017, I have dedicated my bookcrossing activity to the reading and sharing of Canadian stories in honour of our sesquicentennial. There are few more well-known symbols of Canada than our national police force in their red serge, so it seems appropriate to include some stories from their early days in my Canada 150 project!

My husband and I spent Saturday in Ottawa with an old friend (who is home visiting from Europe) and a new one (our friend's hostess in Ottawa), and the four of us went to see the Musical Ride at Saturday's Canadian Sunset Ceremony. We stayed over Saturday night, did Rideau Hall on Sunday, and then went back to the RCMP Musical Ride Centre to check out the Mountie Shop before getting on the road home. We looked around the little museum area behind the shop, and that is where I left this book. I left it on the corner of a bench near the washrooms and drinking fountains.

My husband and I were in Ottawa visiting family and celebrating Canada 150 last week. My husband is a Mountie so we always make it a point to stop in at the RCMP Stables and Mountie Shop while in Ottawa. I was washing my hands in the washroom when I came across this book on the counter by the sinks. This is my first Book Crossing experience and I'm excited it started in one of my favorite places with book on one of my favorite topics! I look forward to reading this book!
