I'm downsizing my keeper shelves and have decided to register and release one of my favourite novels to find a new reader. It's been surviving culls for at least 40 years, so long that it doesn't even have an ISBN number, not that I can see anyway, but now is the time . . . . I can't write a detailed review at this stage but I do know that I was very impressed at the time - and the film version with Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons was pretty good as well . . . .

Amazon Editorial Review: "Perhaps the most beloved of John Fowles's internationally bestselling works, The French Lieutenant's Woman is a feat of seductive storytelling that effectively invents anew the Victorian novel. "Filled with enchanting mysteries and magically erotic possibilities" (New York Times), the novel inspired the hugely successful 1981 film starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons and is today universally regarded as a modern classic."

Released 6 yrs ago (7/6/2017 UTC) at Sainsbury's, Wetherby Road in Harrogate, North Yorkshire United Kingdom

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Left on the shelves in the porch with the other fundraising books. Please be prepared to donate 50 pence or more to their current charity: HELP, Harrogate Easier Living Project which provides support for older or vulnerable people and those with a disability to remain independent in their own homes.

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 nearly twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
