This fourth novel in this series finds Davis McGowan once again teaching at a local college...this time The Firelands branch campus of BGSU in Huron, Ohio. While there, he encounters a Goth student who is both secretive and distant. A mystery is uncovered and Davis becomes a "person of interest" as he gets sucked into past events.
While it is the fourth novel in the series, it can be read without having read the others although sometimes characters from the previous ones make an appearance again.
