Journal Entry 1 by Deerskin from Aberystwyth, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 17, 2004
The story of a young boy who is evacuated during the war, and the gruff old man who is forced to take him in. A heartwrenching story - I read this several times and it never failed to make me cry. Registered to pass on. Bookray members; Zarylia (Poland) Axelp (Netherlands) lauraloo29 (Canada)

Warsaw/Poland - Received today! I'll read it as soon as possible. I've got exams right now so things are hectic, but I don't think it'll take me too long to finish it. Thanks for the card Deerskin, it's so cute!

Warsaw/Poland - Awwwww.....what a sweet book! The characters were all so wonderful! I didn't actually cry, but that's because I was in public so I just ended up blinking furiously. ;-P Needless to say, I really enjoyed it; it's a wonderful story about the power of love and friendship. Thanks Deerskin for starting this ring! I'll be sending this, along with Eva, on to axelp soon.

Well this was a lovely story. War is a sad thing, but it was nice that it gave William a better home. I'm the end of the ray. I'll have to think about what to do with this book now. Thank you for sharing!

Journal Entry 10 by JDT from Pleasanton, California USA on Saturday, January 08, 2005
Appreciated the chance to read this well-travelled, timeless story of the effects of wartime on individuals and relationships. (to be honest, sometimes put off by the dialect and found myself skimming quickly). Heartwarming. Thanks to all before me!
