I found this book on the free book shelf at Rheault Bay Marina and read it that day on the lake, partly while I was watching the Preds beat "Sid's team" in game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
I picked the book up assuming the author was Canadian. Because who dislikes Bettman more than Canadians (the owners of the 7 Canadian NHL teams excepted)? I didn't intend to read it being Canadian and not a team owner. But I have to admit I wondered how a non-Canadian, not very stellar lawyer with short man complex with out a lick of knowledge about hockey manages to earn eight million dollars a year as the nhl commissioner for 2 & 1/2 decades.
The book is easy enough to read, a bit yawn producing at times, but hits upon most of the things Bettman has done to earn the boos and gives him some "to be fair" moments too. It won't turn the hockey purist into a Bettman fan but was an interesting enough way to spend the time between periods of this Stanley Cup game played on a beautiful evening on the lake in June.
