A mysterious message from a midnight duelist sends fashion reporter Maddie Hatter to New York's finest parasol dueling academy, where she foils a daring daylight kidnapping.
The grateful rescuee, only daughter of an American Steamlord, offers Maddie a job as her bodyguard. Soon both young ladies are up to their lace gloves in industrial intrigue and irrepressible street urchins.
Maddie's clockwork bird faces danger too: hungry owls, curious inventors, even a clockwork foe that hides sneaky tricks behind its jewel-green eyes. From the mansions of Park Avenue to the Statue of Liberty, Maddie hunts a fearless spy and confronts an unexpected power from her past.

Released at the October meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, held at Cravings Market Restaurant.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing October meet-up. Whoo, more steampunk-y goodness.
This steampunk world is excellent. So well thought out. And Maddy is wonderfully feisty as usual. I couldn't really remember what happened in the last book, so some of the details were kind of lost on me, but that's mostly on me. Parasol duelling sounds like a ton of fun. The author needs to hold a demonstration at the Calgary Expo or something.
Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing November meet-up.
Sorry for journalling late!!

Picked up at this month's bookcrossing meetup. Can't wait for the read!
I don't remember much about the first book but it was still a fun read. It was rather fun watching Maddie navigate high society america without giving away her background.
Picked up at get together
A fun read. I liked the parasol duelling, though it was a bit different from the demonstration I saw at the comic expo. Thanks for the read!
Taken to get together
