A 1998 novel by Booker Prize winner Penelope Lively. (Lively was twice nominated for the Booker -- in 1977 for her first novel The Road to Lichfield and in 1984 for According to Mark. She won in 1987 for Moon Tiger.) Spiderweb is the story of social anthropologist Stella Brentwood, who retires to a small village in rural Somerset after a lifetime spent travelling through Egypt, Greece and the Mediterranean. A highly readable book, and a wonderful depiction of life (real life!) in southwest England in the 1990s. Visit Penelope Lively's official website here!

10 out of 10

I loved this book so much, and wanted to send it to a friend rather than releasing it in the wild. Who better to send it to than a couple who will be travelling to the part of England where the story is set this spring. Hope one or both of you will enjoy the book!
