I read this ages ago and lent it to a friend and it has now been returned to me, so I will share it now with bookcrossers far and wide.
If you are interested in British history and the royal family then you would enjoy this book. You will need to dedicate a lot of time to reading it,as it 650 pages long. I did enjoy it, although it was hard going at times, but it does centre mainly on Thomas Cromwell and his relationship with Henry VIII. This is a work of fiction but obviously based on historical facts.

I am a sucker for Booker prize winning books, so took this brick
of a book away to read in due course.

I have been struggling with this book for the last month and am nearly three quarters of the way through it.
An interesting look at the rise of Thomas Cromwell, who began as an abused son of a blacksmith and rose to be advisor and confidante of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
I like the detail of the day to day minutiae which is obviously fiction but knits into the fabric of actual events and people.
Slow going, but an interesting and more personal view into historical facts.
