I got this slightly-battered ex-library softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. Looks like a creepy tale of bloodsucking fiends - aka mosquitos, if the cover-art is accurate...

Later: Yep, a giant mosquito is involved - and as if that weren't enough, it's associated with a Vietnamese legend about a desperate husband and an unfaithful wife. How this affects poor journalist Ashley Reeves is revealed all too soon, as an assignment sends him to a remote island to interview an insect expert, only to find that he's being targeted as the next meal for the hungry creature.

There are lots of nicely creepy scenes here, but the characters don't have much depth, and I admit I couldn't work up much sympathy for them. But in the right hands the story could make a really dandy horror movie!

I left this book in the Little Free Library; hope someone enjoys it!
