This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and every once in a while they even write home to say what they've been doing.

One of these days, I really will read this book. This particular copy came from the Leahi Hospital Thrift Shop.

The movie "Gettysburg" was based on this Pulitzer prize winning novel; the cover depicts soldiers during the famous battle during the American Civil War.

In the meantime, here are some other copies on my BookCrossing shelf:

Journal Entry 2 by winghyphen8wing at Oahu Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii USA on Monday, May 22, 2017

Released 6 yrs ago (5/21/2017 UTC) at Oahu Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii USA

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Sunday, May 21, 2017: left at Oahu Cemetery, next to the marker for Samuel Kennedy McKeague, a Civil War veteran who served with Company B of the 38th and Company E of the 186th Pennsylvania Volunteers. It looks like he originally enlisted on the last day of the battle at Gettysburg - possibly because of it - and he was only 15 at the time. So he might not have fought at Gettysburg but his unit did: there's a monument to them.

Larger photo here.

Released for Secretariat's 2017 Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Challenge (week 20: military service members) and BOOKWORMINUSALL's Mother's Day challenge.
