Magic of Christmas
5 journalers for this copy...
This fair quality paperback was given to me by my friend Audrey W. for bookcrossing.
It tells the story of Lizzy who is on the verge of leaving her cheating husband when she finds herself widowed. Her friends offer a welcome distraction which includes lots of cooking and rivalry at the village show.

This book will be sent on to another bookcrosser c/o Royal Mail. I hope it travels on to find someone who enjoys reading it.

Welcome to bookcrossing -you have found a travelling book. Please make a journal entry now to say where you found the book in case it has been moved. Then, when you have read it, please come back and make a further entry saying whether or not you enjoyed the book and why. It is now yours to do as you like with it, pass it to a friend or just leave it somewhere different for someone else to find and help it with its' journey. Of course if you can't bear to part with it at the moment then keep it, but please let me know that you have found it. If you join bookcrossing, which is free and spam-free, you can follow the book on its' travels as you will get an email each time it changes hands, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine too. Please also say what you intend to do with the book next. Thanks for coming onto the site to let me know you have found the book.
I already have books travelling in many countries around the world-a list can be found on my bookcrossing profile.
When re-releasing this book please be aware that airports are not a good place to leave books unless they have a specific book exchange shelf or area, due to security problems, so they may well just be disposed of. Also charity shops may well discard books that have been labelled in any way and they mostly chose only the books in the very best condition
to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.

Having read other the books by this author I wasn't surprised to see the same format of recipes, romance & misunderstandings but as that was what I was in the mood for I wasn't disappointed (though I do wonder how many books can be written featuring a small village with a tradition of plays at Christmas!).....& how do these people fund all their baking? Never mind find time to work with all the bottling, pickling & jamming (one year of plum jam-making was all I coped with & years on I'm still finding the odd frozen gooseberry in the freezer).
All-in-all, it's a heart-warming tale & I have to admit that I did find the dialogue of the Mystery Play very funny, & despite it being set in Lancashire, I could hear it said in a thick Yorkshire accent, sounding just like my husbands gran did, "I am reet disappointed in thee Lucifer - I can hear it now :o)
Saving it to release as part of the Christmas in July Challenge :o)

Reading this book at the moment. I'm really enjoying it. Love the way that the author captures some of the quirkiness of rural characters.
I'm going to pas it on to my mum as I know she will also love it.
