"He was not blind to the fact that murder, like the religions of the Pagan world, requires a victim as well as a priest...'. Wilde's supremely witty tale of dandies, anarchists and a murderous prophecy in London high society."

OK,I admit it: I have a soft spot for Oscar Wilde. I always find great pleasure while reading his works. Given his personal circumstances and era (or because of them?), his clever interpretation of social norms at the time and his amazing courrage to satirize people and situations are phaenomenal. He definately had a difficult life and died poor and a social outcast but at least History recognised his qualities later...

His wit, irony and sarcasm are unique and his character studies are great. And the way he sets up the basic elements of his stories on an immediate way while narrating- instead of drawing long and boring descriptions- is an amazing ability too.

In this small novela, the ridiculous element is entangled with the grave, the noble feelings with selfishness, the murder with the sense of duty ... And as the modern saying goes, how mercilessly Oscar Wilde "trolls" the high society of his time! Actually, frequently I couldn't stop laughing out loud while reading the book!

I really enjoyed this small novela and reccommend it to others.
