Journal Entry 1 by fushmush from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Tuesday, August 31, 2004

She's heard all the lines. Now it's time for the truth! Charlie has to keep pinching herself to believe she's leaving Australia for a trip to Europe -- a generous gift from her family, who know how tough her life has been lately. But the last person Charlie expects to bump into on the plane is Jasper Ash, international celebrity, rock-star sex-god -- and Charlie's former best friend, flatmate and . . .almost-lover! It's been three years since Charlie impulsively jumped into bed with Jas, then a struggling student. But their nearly-one-night stand had just been warming up when Jas began the male "backing off" ritual, practically sprinting out the door with the classic excuse, "It's not you, it's me." Yeah, right. Everyone knows what that means: It is you! Not pretty enough, not successful enough -- just not enough. Charlie has dealt with it -- and a whole lot more -- but the unanswered questions still niggle. Acting on impulse once again, she invites Jas to join her own European tour! And as they share hotel rooms, play at being tourists and dodge Jas's determined groupies, it becomes clear they're both at a crossroads in life. Before they can move on, they finally have to deal with the unfinished business between them -- starting with a serious conversation about that night. Another fun read from Allison Rushby. Much better than your average chick lit novel! I really enjoyed Allison's quirky writing style and I often had to stop myself from guffawing out loud while reading the book in public places. Off to Noodlebowl!

Finally finished this last night. I enjoyed it, a nice light read though I wasn't really in the mood for chick lit. Some witty poignant moments and who doesn't love a man in leather pants? Off to Kirst040 next!

OK time to fess up...I read this when I should have been studying. I picked it up just thinking I would read a few pages while I was having a break but I ended up reading the whole thing in almost one sitting, didn't even need a bookmark. This was good, probably not as inspired as allmenarebastards.com but an entertaining read nonetheless. Her next book also looks good. Not sure about the leather pants though, give me an old pair of faded Levi's anyday. Have PM'd funkybamboozle and will pass it on when she responds. (She's away until the weekend)

Finished this last night. Its amazing how going to sleep at 6:00pm due to a bad headache can make you wake in the middle of the night all ready to read. "It's Not You, Its Me" is the perfect book for such an occasion. The book is nothing more than fun, light reading – predictable, but with enough laughs to pull it off. I enjoyed reading about Jasper’s supposed exploits as the wild singer ‘Zamiel’, homosexual, wearer of leather pants, killer of innocent chickens and pig lover. I was a little disappointed to discover it was all a marketing creation. The antics of the two characters at Oktoberfest was mildly entertaining, but the focus of the entire novel is predominantly based around the relationship of the central characters. Quite typical in ‘girlie’ novels. I would recommend this book to friends who require some light reading. Waiting for e-i-pi to reply with her address

Journal Entry 12 by Hawkette from Ballarat, Victoria Australia on Sunday, January 09, 2005

(Fushmush and I at the Aussie Convention, discussing this very book at drinks at the Shelbourne - not this actually copy though, cos this one was already in the postal system!) I liked this one much more than I liked Rushby's first - the charcters are more likeable and real in this one. And perhaps the whole crossroads of life, and the travel, the share house, was something I could relate to more. I actually have tentative plans for Oktoberfest this year (...copying phrases from the book....just kidding!). Girls who don't like beer, and groan through Oktoberfest??!! I don't understand. I am afraid I would be more likely to participate in Flag Day!! Quite amuzing throughout, although I don't really believe the Shane character - the average Aussie bloke can't all be an act!! Hmmmm, and what is it about "Add It Up" by the Violent Femmes - does us all in, doesn't it!!?? Some of the eventual storyline seems a bit over the top to me, however served as a light and entertaining read, which I enjoyed on a lazy Sunday. Will be passed on to TramGirl at the Melbourne Meet Up this week.

Finished this book off this morning while lying in bed with my cup of tea...gotta love ADO's (jealous Jess?;)). Anyway I really enjoyed this book, chick lit yes but good setting, interesting background and a couple of twists thrown in at the end! My favourite Allison Rushby book so far. I'm waiting to see who still wants this book after so many people got a free copy with a magazine last week. Will send it on when I know! 2/3: Quilted-Elf will be recieving the book sometime next week!

Journal Entry 15 by Quilted-Elf from Adelaide, South Australia Australia on Tuesday, April 26, 2005
Well this arrived two weeks ago and as i was in the middle of moving house it just sat on the table until yesterday when I finally remembered it's existance. Well I must say that I liked this one better than Allmenarebarstards.com all though that one did make me laugh out loud several times where as this one didn't. But unlike allmenarebarstards.com the characters didn't make me want to grit my teeth and throw a hissy fit. It was fun and I agree with the comment about Shane. He was a little brown. But the story was truely an aussie one. There was spatterings of very particular aussieisms. It could be read by anyone but I think the truely Australian flavour is what made it the most enjoyable for me. i have read books by American authors and find that they don't do so much for me but this was an enjoyable read through and through. I have PMd the next person so will pass on according to their instructions.....

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed Hating Valentine's Day but this one was much better - in my opinion. Not many people know rock stars but hey, it IS fiction right? It was nice to have a light read for once! Will send off to Luckaye when I get her address.

I started reading this book with the intentions of it taking at least a week to finish, but 2 days later I was done! I didn't want to put the book down, it was funny and light hearted, just what I was in the mood for. Mailed it to Calissa today, Enjoy!

This made a great break from all the heavy uni reading I've been doing. It really sucked me in too... ended up staying awake untile 1am to finish it! I found it very enjoyable and thought both Jas and Charlie very likeable. The only thing that felt a little out of place was when a paragraph of dialogue was interrupted to tell us that Charlie took a breath. I found that completely unneccessary. Still overall, I loved this book!
