Journal Entry 1 by goatgrrl from New Westminster, British Columbia Canada on Sunday, March 14, 2004
This book won the Booker Prize for fiction in 1998, which is what prompted me to read it (I've set myself the goal of reading every Booker Prize winner from 1969 - present). I know McEwan has a lot of fans, but I was a little astonished that this book received any significant acclaim at all. It's more a novella than a novel (178 pages of big print), and the theme didn't strike me as particularly original or engaging. To each their own, I guess. This book is in superb condition, so I will probably look for it in someone's "wish list", rather than attempting a wild release.

I'm mailing this book to tabby90 in North Carolina, USA as a RABCK, since it was on her wish list. I hope you enjoy the book! (I hope you like it more than I did! :^) ...)

I'm also trying to read the Booker Prize winners which is how this ended up on my wishlist. Got in the mail today, along with some extras, a Canadian sticker and pin. Thanks! That was so nice!
