The journey into the tantric mysteries of a young English girl during the British Raj. The merry romp on the way to enlightenment is punctuated by tales of a randy officer, concupiscent priest, lesbian lust and the dark exoticism of India. At times there is an uncomfortable clash between the period in which the book is set and the language used. Nevertheless, this book, which panders to female as opposed to male fantasies, provided a fun diversion over most of an otherwise dull evening. I'm putting it into the Blue Book Bag for its onward journey.
