I claimed these InuYasha volumes at the meetup - I've already read them, but can add them to my release-stash. (I've also enjoyed the anime series on TV.)
The story's an entertaining mix of mythology, humor, adventure, and hints of romance - though there's not much time for that last one, what with all the monsters attacking! Schoolgirl Kagome can move in and out of the ancient world of myths via a sacred well on her family's property, and she finds herself adventuring with dog-demon InuYasha and a growing number of companions.
[There's an extensive TV Tropes page on the manga and anime, but beware of spoilers.]
