My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Volume 2
2 journalers for this copy...
This graphic novel showed up at my work and wasn't claimed by any students looking for a lost book. I was handed this by one of my supervisors who was clearing out the staff room. It is a cute My Little Pony story about the powers of friendship against the nightmare fears of a "dark power" which is trying to take over ponyville
This little volume is a little bit battered as my preschool class took turns reading it over the past month. There is a page missing from the alternate artwork at the end which I believe was gone from the book when we found it. I did have to put some tape on two pages as something stuck them together and one of my kids was devistated when they ripped as it just started to peel a layer of the art apart. But we were able to tape the speech bubble back into place and have a little color removed from the other page.
This is still in readable condition, so I am going to add it to the graphic novel book box.

I am using this to seed a new graphic novel and manga book box.
I'm claiming this from the manga/graphic novel bookbox. I enjoyed the JE about its "well loved" condition {wry grin}.
Later: I admit that the whole "My Little Pony" thing escapes me; I wonder how I'd have felt about them if the show had aired back when I was young enough to be its target audience. I suspect I wouldn't have loved it even then - I wanted my horses realistic, not rainbow colored - but who knows? Anyway, this story had more depth than I expected, and some genuinely scary parts - especially in the "Nightmare Rarity" section. The power-of-friendship lesson was a good one, and I can see how the character interactions could be fun - lots of humor and some snarkiness along with the wildly-colorful artwork!
[There's a TV Tropes page on the series, with some entertaining tidbits.]
