Journal Entry 1 by wingnimrodielwing from Evanston, Illinois USA on Monday, April 10, 2017

Following the events of Halo 4, the UNSC Infinity is deployed to security detail for a peace summit between the Elites and Brutes. When the negotiations are ambushed by a mercenary fleet, Infinity is drawn into a plot which leads them to the discovery of a long-lost UNSC asset trapped behind enemy lines. This graphic novel collects the comics Halo: Escalation 1 through 6.

This came from a comic book bento box. I'm not a big Halo fan so don't see myself keeping a Halo comic graphic novel after reading it.

Don't miss the thrilling new adventures set in the Halo universe!

I'm not sure that this is my type of comic. I received it in a comic book bento box, and while I love science fiction and space opera type stories I am not a Halo player. Since this takes place after Halo 4 and I have only played a tiny bit of the first Halo game I was thrust into a story line I didn't know all the past details to.

The artwork was enjoyable if a little stiffer than some comics I have read before.

You know, I've heard a lot of talk over the years about Halo, the game. I know it was super popular and has all kinds of spin offs. It looked like fun but I just don't have time to do gaming, my life is too chaotic.

So I kind of walked into this one as a newbie.

And that was fine. I followed along without too much issue. I'm sure there were back stories to the characters that I know nothing about but that's ok by me. And I could definitely see where game play influenced the motion and pacing of this graphic novel. It has that hybrid feel to it.

I can't say I was wowed over by it, on it's own. But I'm sure Halo fans were pleased. :)
