I got this handsome hardcover from the Lucky Dog thrift shop in Nashua. It's a mystery set amid wildfires that threaten a Native American ritual, and is from a series about BLM agent Jamaica Wild. She has many close ties to the Native Americans, including a knowledge of their customs and legends and considerable respect for them. Oh, and she has a pet wolf, which is *awesome*.

The crime involves a man who's gone missing in the area just swept over by a wildfire; the fire left a team of firefighters injured, one of them very badly, and he may have witnessed the crime...

Lots of interesting plot twists here, with much character development as well.
