I found this handsome hardcover at a local thrift shop, and thought it would make a lovely seasonal release this spring. It highlights a number of wildflowers, describing their habitat, aroma (or, in some cases, stench!), and other aspects. I was pleased to see several that I have in my yard, including bloodroot and trillium, and others that I've seen in local parks, such as the exotic-looking lady's slipper.

I plan to leave this book, bagged against the elements, on a bench somewhere on the point with a view of the ocean and the lighthouse. Hope the finder enjoys it!

Later: Left as planned, though it was a raw, rainy day - not the best weather for hanging out on the seashore. Then again, the waves crashing against the rocks amid the chilly mist... it was very atmospheric, in a brooding sort of way!

My children and I braved the cold, rainy evening to venture to our favorite spot in Maine. We make a pilgrimage to Nubble Lighthouse as often as we can get away from Vermont. It was cold and wet but we got some great pics and on the way past a bench my 15 year old son spotted the book. We intent to browse the book for some ideas for our own yard and then release it back into the wild somewhere in VT.
