I found this fair-condition ex-library softcover on the book-swap shelf in the Tyngsboro MA post office lobby. At first I thought it was Robert Graves' I, Claudius, but when I realized it was about a woman's travels with her cat I had to give it a try!

Turns out... I had trouble getting into this one. The author's tone is very frenetic, and her rather casual attitude about taking her elderly cat with her on extended travels made me extremely nervous. Oh, the cat seems to enjoy the process - when it isn't suffering from one of the many ailments that can strike a cat near the end of its life - but it just felt cruel to me, and I suffered vicarious fears at every turn as to whether the cat would be lost, injured, ill, neglected... The author's own style seems to involve a fairly unlimited budget and a much more extroverted attitude than I could empathize with, and while some of her travels did include descriptions of charming and fascinating spots, I found it rather exhausting reading about it {wry grin}.

I left this book on the book-swap shelf in the Tyngsboro post office lobby; hope someone enjoys it!
