It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post. After the Rain
3 journalers for this copy...
At fifteen, Rachel is a worrier. She worries about whether her family understands her, whether her friends like her, and whether she'll get her first kiss before she turns sixteen. And she worries about whether she can handlehaving a real boyfriend if he does come along.
But it takes a dying old man -- her grandfather -- who has never been easy for anyone to handle, to show Rachel she has very special abilities. With love and compassion, she reaches the heart of an old tyrant who has always been unreachable. And in so doing, she comes to a better understanding of her family, her friends, and herself.

Being sent to Kansas City for a YA Release Party at the Kansas City Public Library Central branch! =)

From the Publisher
Rachel feels she should talk more to Izzy, but every conversation with him is a trial. Then Izzy falls in the street, and the doctors discover he has cancer. He can no longer go on his beloved walks alone, and Rachel becomes his reluctant companion. The after-school visits begin as a chore, but gradually Izzy becomes the most important thing in Rachel's life--even more important than her friendship with Lewis Olswanger.

I caught this book at the Kansas City, Missouri Central Library Bookcrossing Party. I chose it because I had already read it and knew it was a wonderful book to pass along. It is well written and really a good look at the many sides of relating to older relatives. You come away really enjoying and appreciating two very special human beings.
