This is set in 1860s London, and has Henry Cotton riding the Metropolitan line between Farringdon and Paddington stations...... with the body of a strangled street girl! When Police arrive, Henry makes his escape but leaves behind a notebook which contains research notes on the underbelly of London life for newspaper stories. As the story progresses, it starts to seem that Henry Cotton might actually be Charles Dickens and some of the characters he stumbles across are characters in his books!!! There's quite a few twists along the way, a few more deaths that may or may not be accidental, and the culprit is NOT who you think it is! Good read!
