Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa!!!!
This was an EXCELLENT book. I LOVED it. There is humor mixed with little life lessons to learn while following Monkey on his wild adventures. I thought it was awesome.
I will be passing on to the next person. Sorry it took me so long, I was stuck with several bookrings at the same time. Please forgive me.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful book.
Happy Bookcrossing!!!

Has arrived safe and sound. I'm looking forward to reading it.
Very neat book that I never would have encountered without Bookcrossing. Thank you so much, Rico-Verde. I really enjoyed it.
Apologies for having this book so long. Work has been very hectic, and I've had trouble making it to the Post Office.
Sent off to Australia today (Sunday) via Air Mail.

I wasn't expecting this parcel at all! I know I must have given sqdancer my address at some point. Many thanks Rico-Verde and all. I'll probably sit on this for a while as I have a huge list of bookrings (I hate to un-subscribe so despite my overcommitment I still keep receiving them), but I'll be in touch when it is read. Do let me know if anyone else wishes to join and read the book (or if you want it back, Rico-Verde), so I can hurry it up.

Many thanks to Rico-Verde for hosting this bookring and many apologies for sitting on it for so long. Finally, after an arduous (but mostly motionless) journey of 7 months, Monkey reached the top of Mt. TBR and I read it over the course of the last week.
In primary school I was told the television program starring Masaaki Sakai as Monkey was a bad influence on me (I kicked other children and apparently this was Monkey's fault...) and I was periodically forbidden to watch it. It has been delightful to see behind the unclear but brightly-coloured memories I have of those stories to another, perhaps more faithful, rendition of the traditional story. At that age I had no conception of Eastern religions or history, and I suspect the ambiguously-sexed Tripitaka and Bodhisattvas of the TV show may have inspired my first questions on the subject. Now, being much more widely read but no less curious than I was as an eight-year-old, it is lovely to revisit the stories.
The English of the translation is very readable and I presume reasonably accurate. I can forgive the occasional anachronism and I appreciate the footnotes informing us of untranslatable puns and the like.
The nature of Monkey is indeed irrepressible. Thankyou so much, Rico-Verde.

Rico-Verde has appointed me Keeper of the Ring for its further journey. I have advertised it on the BCAUS list for those of us Australians who fell in love with the badly-dubbed TV show in our childhood (a fairly nicely put together Japanese production, embellished with Australian voiceover actors using colourful Australian language in outrageous faux-Oriental accents). I'll advertise on the Forum too, eventually.
First in is woosang, of Picton, NSW, Australia
Then we have silvermoonwyrm, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
And don't forget it has to end up with Rico-Verde of Leesburg, Florida, USA.

I made arrangements -- several times -- to hand this over in person to woosang. Unfortunately I either never turned up, or arrived so late that that woosang had already left. On the last such occasion (goodthinkingmax's birthday party on Friday night) our mutual friend catsalive heaped verbal abuse upon my unworthy head and demanded that I hand over the book on pain of being imprisoned beneath a mountain for 500 years.
I trust that catsalive will be able to pass the book on to woosang more reliably than I managed.

catsalive handed me this book ages ago and it has been hiding in one of the massive piles of books I have to read soon. **Sigh** If I don't get to it soon, then I will pass it on.

Poor littl ebook got caught up in the desk. I still have not read it, but I am passing it on to the next reader and I hope to find another copy again soon

It is with high embarrassment that I finally get this off to the next reader. I have found a second copy and will journal my thoughts here when I eventually get around to reading the other copy.

I''d almost forgotten about this little gem. I have a few before it, but I''ll do my best not to take several months.
Took me a few nights to read this, unfortunately took me a few months to rescue it from my Mt JBR on my dresser. Now that I am doing my post convention clean up of all overdue books, I'll send this off, just as soon as I figure out who I'm supposed to send it to. I think another ask around on BCAUS is in order, since it only got the two responses... surely more people than that want to read this gem?
