Very interesting non-fiction book about Venice. The main topic of the book is the disastrous fire that burned the iconic La Fenice Opera House in 1996, and the subsequent restoration and the search to identify a cause and prosecute those responsible for the catastrophe. There is much insight on Venetian politics and culture, as well as the multiple charitable groups contributing funds toward restoration.
