7 out of 10

I found this good-condition softcover at a local Savers thrift shop, and nabbed it for another release copy of this cute yaoi manga.

The story involves a cute but lonely little godling who snatches a recently-murdered man up to his tiny garden-in-the-sky to keep him company. His new companion, having decided he must be in heaven, immediately wants to know where the women are - which doesn't bode well for a boys-love story {wry grin}. Shiro, the newly-dead guy, after hearing how lonely Kami-Sama is, suggests that he fetch up a woman, so that they can form a family and keep him company (and so that Shiro can get some, of course). They go looking for a suitable candidate who's about to die, and Shiro gives the nod to a stunningly beautiful creature - who turns out to be a (male) ninja who'd magically changed himself into a woman. Hilarity ensues?

Well, yes, it does, but there are some poignant bits as well, as Shiro and Kuro cope with their new existences - and with some lingering aspects of their old lives. And then there's the sheer adorableness of the scenes of sleepy little Kami curled up between his new family. But Shiro's still a horndog, and keeps pestering Kuro to take on female form again - while finding his male form more and more attractive...

The ups and downs of the growing relationship include some jealousy from Kami, who brought them here to keep him company and who is reluctant to let them have too much time to themselves. And it's all so very, very CUTE! (Especially the way they eventually work things out.)

There's another main story in the book, about a group of adventurers banding together to fight a dragon - very much in D&D style. But only the fighter Raiho and the enchanter Yukito wind up together, and they really need a healer... This one gets pretty goofy, between the preparations for the trip and the administrative goings-on, but it's cute too. And the omake strip at the end pulls these characters into a hot-springs episode, with some adorable touchy-feely stuff. But I like the "Garden Sky" story best.
