Johnny Wander Don't Burn the House Down Volume 1 (Volume 1)

I got this fair-condition softcover during a recent binge at Better World Books. It's a collection from the "Johnny Wander" web comic, a slice-of-life series with a mix of domestic/relationship comedy, gamer-geek humor, and cat jokes {wry grin}. Among my favorites: the gang tasting pickled plums (a traditional Japanese food that is apparently well off the taste-radar for non-Japanese - I'll have to try it someday); the cat being caught clawing the speakers and feigning innocence; Pokemon explained as "Charles Darwin meets cockfighting"; and author-avatars Ananth and Yuko pointing out a cute cat on a balcony, only to be glared at by the burly shirtless dude on the next balcony over.
[There's a TV Tropes page on the series.]

I'm putting this book in the manga/graphic novel bookbox, which will be on its way to its next stop soon. Enjoy!

this was a quick read. it was weird b/c it's exactly the same type of humor that some particular friends of mine would be into, but that i just find sort of middle of the road and pedestrian. this feels too much like "in jokes" rather than general entertainment. okay overall, but not a keeper for me.

Life is all fun and games,

This is another of those comic strips online that I never did see and this is my first contact with it.
And it's not that this trope hasn't been done before with a bunch of kids from the geek squad but it's actually very well developed as far as characters and balance.
And it was funny in a casual way.
The part I particularly liked is that one scene with the explosion in their apartment that you see from the outside window and he invited his readers to come up with alternate events for the exact same set of scenes. And to see what the different people came up with, they were really funny.
