This is the most recent English-language collection of the "Master Keaton" stories, and I nabbed it in Barnes and Noble today. I saw the anime first and loved it - including its lovely and dramatic opening sequence - and have picked up some of the manga, starting with Volume 1.
This volume, like the others, features stories from different times in Keaton's career; in some, he's still fretting over how to get back into archaeology, while in other's he's lecturing, and in still others we see how he got into the insurance-investigation racket. His special-forces and hostage-negotiation skills come into play in some tales, too.
Throughout, his affable, slightly dorky demeanor belies his skills, and the many characters he meets have a range of histories, some very dark and/or tragic, others hopeful.
The settings vary too, from ancient British forests to sunny Mediterranean islands. The lovely artwork is a hallmark of the series - as are the intricate plots. Some of them are incredibly suspenseful - "The Heart's Walls" is a prime example - while others have a light-hearted tone. Another fine collection!
[There's a TV Tropes page on the series, with some entertaining comments.]
