I found this good-condition softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. It's a low-key tale of a young girl looking forward to the annual beach holiday, only to have a series of disappointments - old friends who can't come, a new step-friend whom she doesn't like, etc. She's a well-intentioned kid, but sometimes she can't quite control her feelings... Overall it's rather sweet, with some nicely-realistic looks at a child's emotional ups and downs.

I was delighted to spot a book-swap shelf at the Allyn Cox Reservation (off Rt. 133 in Essex) while stopping by to walk the trails and do some geocaching. Left several books there, including this one.
