Found this delightful book a while ago and just got around to reading it. It's a "Hello Math Reader" that entices second- and third-grade readers to incorporate math into their daily lives. In this case, a class of grade-school children work together to raise enough money to buy a guinea pig and all the things necessary to take care of it by collecting returnable bottles and cans. Since I have a guinea pig of my own, I gladly recommend this book! :-)
