I got this good-condition hardcover at a local Salvation Army thrift shop. It's about an 1822 mutiny with some very gory details...
I'd read another book on this a while back, Mutiny on the Globe, but this one's more detailed and readable - not least because its author is an antiquarian book dealer, and got interested in the story thanks to some found-documents, a delightful story in its own right.
The story of the various letters, journals, and ships' logs that eventually formed the tale of the mutiny and its aftermath intrigued me, and I appreciated such details as the author's trip to the site where the survivors were found. (It was sad to learn how the remote Pacific islands that had seemed like paradise to their inhabitants had been massively remodeled by WWII battles...)
The book describes the lives of the entire crew, not focusing solely on the murderer, and sets the events in the context of their times - all the while delighting in the discovery of those rare documents. The author's research was extensive and fascinating!
